You are invited...

Over the weekend, Catherine and I were able to get a major to-do done.  It was something I had been dreading, and of course, once I started it wasn't as bad as I thought it was going to be.  Of all things, it was sending all of the text for our wedding invitations and accompaniments to Jen, our designer.

The actual invite is already well under way, it was all the extra stuff that was stressing me out!  The directions, hotel list, invitation to the rehearsal dinner, invitation to the Sunday brunch, return envelope yadda yadda yadda!  That's a lot of info!

For the different invitations, I spoke with Jen and she showed me another invitation that she had done.  There were multiple things guests had to RSVP for (just like ours) so she did these individual perforated invitations.  I thought it was perfect, so the actual wedding response, rehearsal dinner and Sunday brunch response will be printed on these cards.  (I'm still undecided on colors, but I'm thinking a blue, silver and something else...suggestions welcome!).  These all will fit in the response envelope to be mailed back to us (that's gonna be a thick envelope!).

Jen does more than STD's!

To save some cash, we are thinking of printing the hotel listing and directions ourselves instead of sending them to a printer.  Catherine and I will consult with Jen on paper options and go from there.

I think what I was most stressed about was the specific wording for the wedding reception response card, since the guests had to indicate their meal choice.  I'm not thrilled about the wording I provided, so I wanted to talk to Jen about options.  I just want to make sure that it's clear people know the write all the names of the people attending, and each of their meal choices (including children).  You would think by now people would get it, but I keep hearing horror stories!

I think what I sent was enough to get started, once it's all laid out I'm sure it will make much more sense! I'll show you the final product once they are in the mail, of course!

Psst: Check out Jen's blog for more of her work.  She also designed my blog!  She's cool like that.

  1. I just received a wedding invitation that is multi-fold with a perforated response card. Brilliant idea!

Also, confession: I set my coffee cup down on the invitation (I know, horrifying) and so the response card will be going back with a big ole coffee ring on it. I'd like to think it adds something...

  2. Jen (the designer) spilled tea on my save-the-date, had to give her another! But I do think that sending a response card with a coffee ring on it tells such a story!
